Aikido Byōdōkai Community

“The Way of Harmony”

What is Aikido?

Aikido 合気道 is often translated as “The way of harmony with the energy of the universe.”  Aikido Byōdōkai is a technically precise study of aikido with roots in the Yoshokai and Yoshinkan traditions.  Aikido Byōdōkai dojos teach effective techniques for pins, throws and joint locks, though the heart of our aikido study is in self-control, self-development, and the study of making respectful and positive relationships with others.

The Aikido Byōdōkai Community

The Aikido Byōdōkai Community (ABC) is nonprofit 501(c)3 dedicated to supporting the skilled and responsible practice of Aikido through providing high quality instructor training, maintaining training and testing standards, and providing training experiences that are inclusive, respectful, and safe.  Byōdō is a Japanese term meaning equality. ABC works to create a culture of integrity, equity, and accountability among organizational leadership, instructors, and students.
